Many signs of the Soviet era can be seen in Bishkek's architecture, layout of the city, its wide avenues, apartment blocks and also in the mosaics.

In Soviet Kyrgyzstan the mosaics were applied to public buildings in the decades between the 1960s-1980s. They are not only about ideological propaganda of the Soviet system, but they were also to inspire citizens with beautiful everyday surroundings.

In modern days these mosaics are increasingly endangered under threat from commercial development and neglect.

On this walking tour we will explore the few remaining mosaics of Bishkek and talk about history behind them.

The tour lasts for about 2 hours. Make sure you are dressed according to weather and have comfortable shoes on.
